Peer Educator Level 1 TrainingTopics include:
Participants will:1. Review the elements/competencies of peer education in order to equip participants with the basic skills, and knowledge necessary to provide high quality services to people of color with HIV/AIDS, including basics in HIV/AIDS, HIV Treatment, Treatment Adherence, etc. 2. Begin exploring their personal visions and values as they relate and impact their work, as well as begin building a sense of community and shared missions and values among members of the regional cohort. 3. Explore the basic terms and concepts of the peer support model (PSM), practice using the model’s skills and techniques. Participants will also begin learning how to use culturally sensitive peer counseling techniques in their work, as it relates to the PSM. 4. Begin giving and receiving support and affirmation for their work from their peers.
