At L.I.F.E., we work to create safe, supportive communities of people living with HIV/AIDS. We're setting the same high standards you experienced at the L.I.F.E. Program here in our online community as well.

Your Identity at the L.I.F.E. Social Network

You have been pre-registered using your first name only. You can make changes to your "Username" by going to your "Preferences" after you have logged on. Your Username will appear every time you post a message and people will get to know you by that name.

Your Privacy

The L.I.F.E. Social Network is open only to those who have participated in the L.I.F.E. Program. Still, we know that members may share what they've read with their colleagues and friends. We have no way to absolutely control who reads postings.

Community Confidentiality

Related to the issue of privacy, each of us is responsible for respecting our fellow L.I.F.E. Social Network members. This means being careful not to share anything personal discussed here with people outside the community.

L.I.F.E. will not reuse your words without your permission in any public forum. We subscribe to the policy that "you own your own words."

Civility

Online community provides an opportunity to set, and maintain, high standards of civility. We encourage discussion, and know that disagreements can lead to valuable learning. We encourage lively debate. At the L.I.F.E. Social Network we set a clear distinction between disagreeing with ideas and making personal attacks. Feel free to find fault in ideas; please refrain from finding personal fault in fellow members.

Maintaining Civility

We set high standards of safe communication in the L.I.F.E. Program. It is our pleasure to set those same standards here.

Each discussion and learning area in the L.I.F.E. Social Network is hosted and facilitated by a L.I.F.E. staff person or volunteer. It is the host's responsibility to model and maintain a high level of civility. If you have any questions or problems, please contact the discussion's host. We reserve the right to delete posts that are abusive or disruptive. Users who refuse to comply with civility standards will be denied access.

Technology

It takes time to learn how to make your way around an online community. A "Guided Tour" is available and hosts are always happy to answer questions and help members out. Email your questions to your host or to Clayton Robbins at crobbins@shanti.org

We believe that it's well worth your time to learn your way around the L.I.F.E. Social Network, and to participate actively. Have fun.

Client Testimonials

"My partner died two years ago, and since that time all I thought about was life without him. I was full of anger and pain. I began drinking heavily and forgot about taking my pills. My L.I.F.E. counselor helped me to see that there were possibilities beyond my life with John. Today, I am clean and sober and my viral load is undetectable! I miss John, but I know that I can move forward with my new life."
