About LifeLines
The LifeLines Breast Cancer Program, initiated in
July 2001, provides practical assistance and emotional support to underserved
women and men with breast cancer.
As a community driven collaboration we coordinate and build upon a continuum
of health, social, and complementary care, and draw upon the support and
assistance of our consortium members to prevent duplication of services,
conduct outreach, and ensure that clients are receiving the entire spectrum
of assistance and support available.
LifeLines is the first program of its kind. Although the State of California
has set aside $20 million to provide medical treatment to uninsured and
underinsured low-income women with breast cancer, there are no government
funds to provide the services that women need while fighting the disease.
And until now, no efforts existed to coordinate the service providers
who work to facilitate women's access to care.
LifeLines relies on the donations of others to continue its services
to people living with breast cancer.
