Being With and Supporting Community Before, During, and After the Pandemic

Shanti’s Peer Advocate Care Team (PACT) serves residents of Potrero Hill Terrace and Annex who have to balance the complex realities of living with very low income while navigating the physical, emotional, and social changes that are a part of the vast redevelopment of their community through the HOPE SF initiative.

PACT Leads COVID-19 Response for Potrero Hill Terrace & Annex

Since March, Shanti’s PACT team, in collaboration with HOPE SF, C.A.R.E., and other community-based organizations, has been leading COVID-19 response efforts and coordination for Potrero Hill Terrace and Annex public housing residents. This important role includes conducting a needs assessment for each household and supporting residents with their essential needs: food security, education support, housing stability, and health and wellness. See the infographic below for more details.

In community and collaboration with Stand in Peace, International (a resident-led community-based organization), PACT also recently hosted a resident-led art pop-up for youth in front of Shanti’s Potrero office. The pop-up focused on clearing and planting flower and veggie seedlings to amplify the beauty and connection already existing in the community.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

PACT staff assemble and deliver PPE supply bags for residents on a regular basis. Contents include soap, sanitizing spray, gloves, masks and more. Residents testing positive for COVID-19 receive specialized supply and food bags, and daily wellness calls to support them as they quarantine.
